ribbed stitch to crossing cables
Hello, I am a novice knitter and I've been using this site to get me started with my knitting and learning different techniques.
I'm currently knitting a scarf and have started it by doing a ribbed stitch. I would like to continue by crossing cables and tried doing so but the result was very strange.

Do I need to start another piece for the cable and attach them or can I continue on the same piece that i have started (ribbed)?

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me.

What rib patt are you doing? K1P1? K2P2? Something else?

If K2P2, you could easily work 2/2 cable. Put 2 sts (over the K2) on cable ndl, hold to front or back...depending on which direction you want the cable to twist...work the first 2 sts (over the P2) on the left ndl and then the 2 on the cable ndl.

Is that what you were looking for?
