Pam, for purse stitch, cast on an even number of stitches. P1 *yo, p2tog* P1. You can knit instead of purl the first and last stitch.

Thanks! I like how it looks and it sounds like one I'll like doing (since I can start and end with a knit.

I'm going to try it for my next HAP rectangle and see how it works out.
