They are worth the money! Two sets converted our Coleman camp table (29"x62") into 36"x72" blocking surface! The bit of overhanging surface still supports the knitting, even with wet towels on top of the pinned pieces. The squares melt into each other when you are putting them together! And they are nice and flat, not lumpy bumpy.
THREE HIGHLIGHTS:
1) your blocking pins
jab into the squares with ease...this is particularly nice when you have a lot of pins to install...I get so tired of pushing pins. These blocking squares are a dream.
2) the surface of the blocking squares is
smooth, therefore, you can skooch your sweater pieces around into the right shapes and lengths without stretching them before you pin them down...the blocking squares do not fight with you
3) a few squares can be snapped together for small projects and need hardly any room; same goes for a long narrow scarf. You can clip the squares together into the shape you need, and no more.
Altogether, the 2 sets of Knitpicks blocking squares for $40 create
more blocking surface (36x72) than the $80 SPACE BOARD blocking board (32x50).
The blocking squares do not have the grid, and so you must use your yardstick and measuring tape a bit more.
Overall, the KnitPicks Blocking Squares are well worth the $19.99 per set. Artlady recommends them!
