Yarn for Wallaby

Hi Everyone,

I am going to be taking on my first major project (as a novice knitter) and it will be a Wonderful Wallaby. I will be making it for my almost 6 yr old daughter and am currently looking for a suitable yarn.

I am thinking about the KP Shine Worsted in Crocus, since she loves pink/purple. But I would also love to hear your suggestions!

Well, if it's a winter sweater you'd probably want to use something warmer, but any worsted would probably work if that's what it calls for.

Oh, I love that pattern. I've made 4 Wallaby's so far. I've used Bernat Camo, Caron Simply Soft Shadows, Caron Simply Soft & Bernat Denim Style yarns for the sweaters that I've made. I think as long as you use a worsted weight yarn and you do a swatch to check your gauge you'll be alright.

You can do it! That was my first major project as well. I made two in Cascade 220, one for my 12 year old ( in raspberry) and one for me. For my daughter I omitted the hood and just added a garter collar(she loves it!). Very cute! I made mine with a hood and it sags in the back and pulls up at my throat. I'm not sure if the sagging is due to the hood or if I just needed to raise up the back neck before doing the neck ribbing. It's a fun sweater to knit.

i made one for my granddaughter (age 5) using Lion Brand Cotton Ease. It was great to knit with and is holding its shape well and she *wuvs* it and wears it a lot!! linknit41
