Knitted Rug Question

I'm in the process of knitting a nice rug/mat for the kitchen. It is made out of Cascade 220. I will be putting it down on hardwood flooring and am wondering if anyone has any experience with this type of thing. I'm concerned with it sliding or slipping out from under my feet. Has anyone made one and did they put any backing on it? Or was it fine without it? Thanks

We have strange things under our carpets to keep them from slipping or sliding. I don't know what it's called, but it really keeps them in place.
Maybe you could put such a thing under your rug

Hobby Lobby sells a backing for latch hook rugs that is painted on. It dries white and can be washed within 2 weeks of application. Not sure about putting it in the dryer. I use it on the bottom of felted slippers and it works great. I jar (maybe a pint?) goes a long ways. I think I've done 5 pairs of slippers with it and I have quite a bit left yet. It costs about $9.99 a jar.

It's called foam carpet underlay or something like that. Look it up.
That really helps.

FYI, we have hardwood floors as well.

Thank you both for your help...I'll look into it. I just hate the thought of anyone hurting themselves after working so hard on the rug.

If you go to Home Depot to the carpet dept. They used to sell small rolls of a rubber type material that you can cut to fit under throw rugs to keep them from slipping. You can also find a lighter weight product of the same material to line kitchen cupboards. I use this material under my rag rugs on linoleum to keep them from sliding underfoot.

just plain old knit it and if it slips you can put a backing on it but i usually do not.

You don't need to worry, I have a wood floor as well and you dont need to worry about slipping.
There are cool plastic things you can place underneath, which you wont see and you will not slip
