Switching Needles & Gauge

If I switch from a pair of Boye Interchangeables size 6 to an Addi circular size 6 on a project after I have already started, is my gauge going to change as well? I have only knit 2 rounds, so it hasn’t really gotten that far, but I still was hoping not to have to start again.

It may, but probably not enough to matter.

Because they are both metal, it's likely that the difference will be indiscernable. But if you change between needle materials (plastic to glass, bamboo to metal for example), you may notice a significant difference.

ooh, I never thought of the material the needles are made of making a difference. I've been knitting a sweater on plastic coated aluminium needles, and I have also used them for the sleeves. I am doing it in the round bottom up and am nearing the part where I join the sleeves (ok it would have been easier top down, it's an experiment) I put all the bits as I finished them on my Denise cables, and was going to finish the top part on them. They are "grippier" than the aluminium ones so I am hoping it wont change the gauge enough to be noticable.
