Has Ravelry CRASHED?

I've been trying (off and on) for an hour to open the Ravelry website. No luck.

Ravelry is my HOMEPAGE, so on one of the 'tries' I was prompted to update FIREFOX, which I did, and that time Ravelry did open. So then I tried to open my STASH page, and Ravelry crashed again, that is to say, it TIMED OUT, or some such nonsense.

The default message says this:

Network Timeout
The server at www.ravelry.com is taking too long to respond.

The requested site did not respond to a connection request and the browser has stopped waiting for a reply.

* Could the server be experiencing high demand or a temporary outage? Try again later.
* Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's network connection.
* Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.
* Still having trouble? Consult your network administrator or Internet provider for assistance.

Anyone know what this is about? Have RAVELRY crashed?
BTW: I can open other websites, etc. It is just RAVELRY that is down.

Have you experienced this tonight, too?

I don't know if it's resolved itself for you, but it's working fine for me. I went over, signed in, followed a few links, and it seems fine.

I just checked it out, it's 10AM here in east-central Canada, just a tad east of Ohio.
Hope you get in soon, Artlady. Sometimes i try different servers. Firefox worked well for me, I sometimes also use Explornet. Good luck!

Websites have server blips, glitches and bumps all the time. Sometimes they clear up in a few minutes, sometimes it takes hours. No need to panic. Yet.

It's working fine for me right now.

Looking good here in Northern CA at 1030a PST. I had this happen on the Flickr site for a couple of weeks! Initially I couldn't access it at work, then it moved onto home, even while using different servers. Everyone else in the world could access it though. So probably some glitch that'll hopefully clear up for you soon.

I finally tried a REBOOT, but Ravelry was still down.

So I did the next best thing: I shut down my 'puter, and went out to my family room and KNITTED!

When I returned to my 'puter late this afternoon (14 hours later)
Ravelry was up and running!

I'm going to peek into their NOTICES and see if they speak to a worldwide server problem last night. It was 1:30 am here in my Pacific Time zone, so for anyone east of me, it was even later. Mountain Time: 2:30 am Central Time: 3:30 am Eastern Time 4:30 am.

So how many folks in just these 4 time zones are gonna be taxing the Ravelry server?

Well, of course, even farther east...over the Atlantic, most Ravelers are up, and it's mid morning or mid-day!

That's typically the time frame when maintenance is done on the site and server. So maybe that's what you encountered.

Over the last couple of weeks, Ravelry seems to be having trouble. It'll crash sometimes for a few minutes or a couple hours every couple of days. I think they're probably working out some glitches in the code.
