I really appreciate the advice. I purchased my last area rugs for my kitchen. I need 3. They were not cheap, and they technically should not have been machine washed, but this is the KITCHEN we're talking about and I have 2 kids. So they have been washed and they are ruined and I can't find exactly what I want, so I thought I would knit mine.
pinktoque, that idea sounds rather awesome!
I have also used sugar and cream (4 strands) knitted together to make bathmats. They are super absorbent and feel great under foot. I used up lots of leftover balls of various colors so the rugs were very colorful, and a great way to use up my stash. Becky

Libbie thanks for that link! I have some old sheets I have been wanting to make into a rag rug and had no idea how to make the yarn. That site had a great tutorial! I will definitely be making my rag rug soon!!
