wallaby sweater question of sleeves
I am trying to join my sleeves to my cottage creations wonderful wallaby sweater. That said here are the directions:

body: knit 4 sts past right marker and put preceding 8 sts on a holder to be woven to underarm sleeve sts later. repeat for left side. K acr front over to right underarm.
Then:

Join sleeve by k acr sleeve sts, then acr back of sweater, then acr 2and sleeve sts.

I have no idea what they are saying or what they mean by this! previously, they had me knit the sleeve in a round, putting 8 sts on a holder. Do I knit the holder stictches to the 8 on the body? ugh...

Kimberly, I am not the one to being giving advice, but I made this sweater. I left the 8 stitches on the holder and the 8 stitches on the sleeve holder un knit until after the sweater was finished.
I then went back and matched up the stitches on the holders and used a kitchner stitch to finish the underarm. I think they do this for a nicer finish to the underarm.

Hope that helps,

You essentially have 3 tubes oOo that are joined where they touch which is at the underarm. So on the body, knit 4 sts past the marker, put those 4 and 4 sts on the other side of the marker on a holder. You should have sleeve sts with 8 of them held, knit across the body to the next underarm and knit those sleeve sts except for the 8 held ones which will be joined to the 8 sts on the body for the underarm.

I really appreciate you helping me first off. I am so getting fustrated. Thanks. I am not understanding which sleeve sts to knit to which body sts. I have 3 dbl pointed needles and 8 on a holder for the sleeve sts. I don't know why I am having so much trouble understanding this....

You knit all the sleeve sts to body except the 8 on the holder. They will be joined to the 8 body sts on a holder later on for the underarm.

ok, all sleeve sts except the 8? (They had me pull 8 sts off the double pointed sleeve needles to a holder.) I have already put the body 8 underarm sts on holder and knitted back around. I am at the point on the body right before the holder. I am still not understanding what they mean by join sleeve by k acr sleeve sts.

You knit the body sts, then just continut on and knit the sts from the first sleeve, then go to the other body sts and then knit the 2nd sleeve sts. If it help you to figure it out better, line up the 8 sleeve sts on the holder with the 8 body sts on the holder - clip them together or something. Then you'll see the tube effect - oOo. It does look really odd until you have a few rows of the yoke done, then it starts looking more like a sweater.
