I have cotton turtleneck sweaters which are quite nice. They do stretch (and in fact, when I wash them I throw them in the dryer to shrink them back up a bit).

Thanks, I want to make it in a dark color so I"m concerned that the cotton will fade. But if I hand wash it that shouldn't be a problem. They do have a alpaca/tencel blend that looks really great. I may order a skein of each and see which one I like knitted up into a swatch.

I have to order yarn for a baby blanket/booties/hat and I'm going to do it all at the same time. I thought I was going to be limited to acrylic from Ben Franklin but I may get it at Elann instead.

I love Encore DK! What about KP yarns? They might be nice, IMHO.
