I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have to say thank you to Lucy for the listing of Irish yarn shops. My husband's family lives in Cork Ireland and we visit about every 2 years. I have visited one of the shops in Cork City but not the others. I looked at them on the map and I know just where they are. My husband will be glad because they are within walking distance of his family's home. I won't have to drag him along to help me find them.

Like I can't find enough shopping to do in Cork...now yarn! I can't wait for our next trip over. It was supposed to be this year but we put it off....hopefully next year.

I'd say from recent experience that Vibes and Scribes and the Wool Shop in the English market are the best. There are two Vibes and Scribes shops, though one is just a bookshop so make sure you get the right one.

Glynn's Fabrics, St. Patrick Street, Castlerea, Co. Roscommon

Valerie's Finishing Touches, The Square, Roscommon Town, Co. Roscommon

Donnellans, Next to '8 to Late', Main Street, Roscommon Town, Co. Roscommon
