Need cast on for sweater without ribbing
I'm starting a kimono sweater. It doesn't have a ribbing, you cast on and start the pattern. Just wondering what cast on technique would be good.
Any ideas?

I generally just use the long tail cast on.

Different cast-ons are good for different things -- some are very stretchy, some can be decorative, some are firm...what do you have in mind for the edge of this garment? Are you going to go back and pick up stitches? Do you have a link to the pattern?

Here's a couple of links with different cast-ons, telling you what they're good for and pictures of what they look like, so you can narrow down what you want for your garment:

There's also a lot of specialty cast-ons out there. For instance, here's two very stretchy ones:

The German Twisted Cast-On: http://knitting.about.com/od/casting...an_twisted.htm

The Channel Island Cast-On:

Have fun!

I use long tail for most of mine, the other is cable CO. Both have a firm edge and can be stretchy if you don't do them tight.
