from L to R:
both yarns held tog, garter stitch
garter stitch multi-colored yarn
garter blue only
garter multi again
stockinette multi

Then blue only in stockinette

AND: blue alone; and both held tog.

Now I've confused myself, not sure what I want to do...preferences?

Holding both together will make the blankey go faster, but it will be thicker and more rigid. I'm using size 9mm in these pics.
I like the look of both yarns held together. I think the garter is most interesting but the stockinette is nice too.

If your worried about it being rigit you could try going up a needle size.

I make a lot of childrens' things with Red Heart Yarn because it wears like iron, and it does feel rough when you are working with it. A couple of trips through the washer and dryer with a little fabric softener and it will be much softer to the touch.
Your tweed and print yarns together should make a handsome boy's blanket.

It's really beautiful! I like the larger solid stripes and the smaller variegated stripes. How long are your circs?

I've been going great guns with this blanket. It is now 60 inches long, by 68 wide. I want it to be about 80 inches long, so have 20 inches to go. Here it is today:

Grandson is eagerly awaiting it, since I gave each of his two sisters there a few months ago. I need to knit and knit! Good thing we are having a cool summer here, with lots of rain.
