I just bought fifty dollars worth of silk on ebay and followed that up with a wool cashmere blend. My kids think my stash is too big and I agreed. I gave them my word that unless I needed yarn to finish an item I would curtail my yarn buying for six months. I must say I did get lots of mulberry silk, swan silk, and filature silk for a song! Ah the temtation!! I love making socks and have quite a bit of sock yarn. I will confess to making a doily with worsted weight and Kaffe's sock yarn. There is a picture of a blue doily with pearl beads on the ends of the curls in my Ravelry projects. I am mathwizard there as well as here.
I will never stop learning or sharing my knowledge!
