and fell in LOVE with the pattern. I have looked around for the stitch pattern but haven't been able to find it so far. I'm hoping someone here will have some ideas. I found it online here and you can zoom in on the picture for more detail.
Well, it's a basic 1x1 ribbing, then it looks like a kind of twist stitch on the outer sts of a 10 st set. Or maybe it's stitched in order to make it pucker a little. Would have to take a look at it in person to say for sure.
Look at the top of the pic, where you get to see the "wrong" side - to me, it almost looks smocked. Like a basic 1x1 rib, then smocked every 10 stitches, but alternating (not smocked across the row, horizontal, just off-set).
Not sure what I'm saying makes sense, but to me, I see smocking, no twist, no cables, just smocked.

ETA: This one was probably machine knitted, but I have an idea of how this might be done. I'll have to play with it a bit though so it might be a few weeks or so.

In the little I've played with it this morning the smocking really seems like it was done by hand, but for that price I don't see how it could be. I've got a few more ideas.....
