Hello
Just wanted to welcome you aboard, from another male knitter. There are several of us 'lurking' about the site. This is a good place to come for hints, tips and just a good community to hang out in.

Welcome Jeffrey! If you do a search on the internet for "Aran Sweater", you'll find lots of options for a sweater like that. If you want it to be weather-resistant, like the real thing, use wool yarn that still has the lanolin. Lion Brand's "Fishermen's Wool" is an option, and there are 5 colors available now.

Just wanted to welcome you to the gang, Evan! I agree, knitted stuff is SO pricey!

You're already ahead of me, my dear. I've started in March of last year and I'm just knitting and purling and a little bit of stranding... and of course the binding off one of these days I'll expand on that

Again, Welcome

I've already figured out knit, purl, increase, decrease, elongated stitch, cast on and bind off... it feels great to know all of that after just two weeks! I currently have 3 scarves on needles and I'm completely obsessed

My ultimate goal (for now) is a cute sweater pattern I found on knitty.com. Men's wool knit sweaters are so pricey that I'd much rather know that the $$ I put into it also came with my own creativity!

Sorry for the rambling, but thank you for such an amazing resource!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

I might not post much until after the 14th when I take my intermediate knitting class. There's not a lot I can do except for cast on, knit, purl, and cast off at this point. I'll have a lot more to gain and share here once I'm a bit more proficient. Cheers!

Hi from Scotland
Just wanted to say hello, I've picked up my needles again after cross-stitching for a few years and I must say I'm really enjoying knitting again.
What a great site!
