It's a pattern in a book so it can't be shared due to copyrights. This is a free pattern that is pretty easy. Many of us have learned to knit socks with it.

Oh good call! My library doesn't have it, but I hope yours does!

Wendy also has some very good patterns (for free) Her generic toe up socks has a "recipe" that is somewhat like the Yarn Harlot's.

ok I have found a pattern and have been working on it for awhile. I am almost to the part where I make the hel flap but here is my problem. I arranged the needles this way
needle 1: 16 sts
needle 2: 32 sts
needle 3: 16 sts
in the pattern it says:
Place half the stitches (32) on one needle and continue as follows:

Right side: *Sl1, k1: repeat from * to the end.
Wrong side: Sl1, p to the end.
Repeat these 2 rows 14 times until the heel flap is a square. End by working a wrong-side row and have the right side facing you.
Which needle(s) do I make the heel flap on? Needles 1 and 3 or needle 2?

The heel flap is always about half the stitches so it will be made on the needle with 32 stitches.

i use the harlot's pattern but have my stitches on 4 needles (so each has 16 stitches) and do my heel flaps on the first two needles (so if i had them up like yours, it'd be the stitches on needle one and 1/2 the stitches on needle 2).

I also use the 4 needles for my stitches (plus the one working needle) since it seems to help eliminate the ladders that i used to get.... also seems to make it go faster....
