prayers + hugs for you and your family and friends, Dustina.
My new sock pattern is almost ready for test knitters (as in, hopefully by the end of the night!) SO, I'm looking for about 3 people interested in trying a new pattern. I'm hoping to submit to Knitty, so I can't post pictures (and if you test knit, please don't either) until after rejection or publication.
The construction is one-of-a-kind but I PROMISE that if you can knit a regular sock you can do it. It's very simple - I didn't add any cables this time. There are no short rows or picked up stitches. The cast on is here: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring06/FEATmagiccaston.html, and it does require either a 3-needle bindoff or Kitchener stitch at one point. Also, at least the first half works best if knit using Magic Loop or 2 circs - dpns would be really difficult due to the design.
Please PM me if you're interested! All of you socksters get first dibs on testing the pattern, but I will probably also be posting to the General Knitting board.
(What? People on the Any Sock KAL actually knitting socks? Blasphemy!)

Dustina, I'm So SORRY to hear about your friend. You, your family and your friend's family are in my prayers.

Emily, I can't help you, but your pattern sounds really interesting!!

Of course, the some of you should test knit it if you can, but when you're finished with that, here's a link to sock patterns: 7 Free Patterns Here from Knitting Daily. It's a PDF download.

Dustina: My friend, prayers for her children and her family; prayers for your children and for you! It's a hard thing to go through and I wish I could make it easier for all of you! How about a hug? ((((((Dustina))))))

Julie: Could you post this picture here for me please? Thanks!!! http://www.facebook.com/album.php?ai...5&id=650340379

Please say a prayer for DH's brother, who is 56. We got a phone call this morning that he had a heart attack on Sunday. He is a heavy smoker and the medical staff told DH's father and sister that one of his arteries was 100% clogged and the rest were clogged as well. They had to do immediate angioplasty. He is in the hospital which is just down the street from our house but he will not allow anyone to come and see him.

I am trying to quit smoking, and have been working on this project for several weeks now. I am down to one or two smokes a day but just can't get past that final hump of getting rid of them altogether. However, I did leave the house the other day and go away for the day with no cigarettes in my pocket and only a package of Tic Tac's. That day I only had one cigarette and a whole pack of Tic Tac's, LOL! Please pray that I can do this. I have already gained mucho bottom weight during this project. I was shocked when I stepped on the scale yesterday and I saw that I was 15 lbs heavier than I had been a month ago. Who says quitting smoking is good for you????? LOL!

I got a haircut. It is really short. I am really quite liking it because it is so very easy to style. It makes me feel good so I have started wearing a bit of makeup and lipstick again (if Julie posts the picture from Facebook you will see my new haircut). My DD said my lipstick was too dark so my DH took me out today and got me some lighter lipstick. I am going to try it (oops I was going to say tomorrow but it is....) later today when I get dressed to go see my grandson for his 10th birthday.

As for my grandson's 10th birthday, we got him a Zhu Zhu Pet Hamster and some of the accessories to go with it. I thought this toy might be too young for him but my DD says he is "in love", has been to the website several times and has told her he really wants one of these toys.

It snowed here yesterday and again today, the first real storm we have had this year (and oh how I wish it had not bothered). There is actually snow covering the ground now.

Also on the knitting front, I have completed knitting the first half of the first sleeve on the baby outfit. It is coming along quickly. I showed it to the new Mommy today and she seemed pleased. For those of you who have Facebook, I have posted pictures of me holding another newborn baby. I asked our own Julie if she could try to post one of the pictures here to show off the new baby and my new hairdo (but not my new lipstick because I had already put my makeup on for the day when DH got me the lipstick). The new Mom is a member of KH, and lives about half an hour from my house. We met at a real Knit Night, and have remained good friend even though neither of us attends that particular knit night any more. When I found out she was trying to get pregnant I told her if she got pregnant that I would "knit and knit" for her, but unfortunately God had different plans for me, so I feel so lucky to be able to knit for her at all! I will post a picture of the Teddy-All-In-One when it is finished.

We are watching the Olympics quite a lot around this house. Right now as of tonight the Canadians have 11 Medals, 6 Golds, 4 Silvers and 1 Bronze. We are really enjoying the Winter Games even though neither of us is a huge sports fan. GO CANADA GO!!

Dustina, I'm thinking of you and your family and friends.

Christine, Your DH's brother is in our prayers. How sad that he won't let people visit. Keep plugging away at not smoking! Think how much faster you'll heal without cigarettes! It's amazing how that works! And the money you'll have to spend on YARN or other great things! YAY! LOVE the haircut. SO soft and pretty and full of personality! Suits you perfectly!

Chris, You always make me chuckle! Thanks!

I ran some errands today! It felt good to be out, but I'm tired!
