Kitchener Stitch Problems

I'm doing the Kitchener stitch at the end of a sock and on the front needle, a stitch will ocassionally look like there are two stitches entwined - it usually happens just after I've done a stitch on the back needle. Should I pretend that the two stitches are one stitch and then stitch them and remove it from the needle(it's always at the point where I have to remove the stitch from the needle) - I've tried that and it didn't look right. The other idea would be to try to seperate them and use one of them - but that seems wrong too - that leaves an extra stitch on the needle.

Is it a stitch that you didn't complete quite right? If you can fix it I'd do that. If not then knitting them as one will probably work.

When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
