My favourite, prettiest tea mug

Died. I'm so sad...

I'm a FANATIC for pretty tea things. I even have a flowery teapot shaped nightlight in the kitchen. I am not ashamed to admit I've shed a tear or ten over my favourite tea mug. It developed a thin crack down one side and now leaks.

I cannot replace it, either, as I got it at Murchies www.murchies.com in Vancouver (when I lived there.)

Maybe you can stop by your favourite shop next time you're back in Vancouver for a visit .... ?

Oh, if/when we visit there, I'm going to Murchies first thing. It's going to be a loooooooooooooooooooong time before we go back there, though.

I did email my mom (she lives there) she understands the importance of pretty tea things. Maybe she can pick me up one or two and mail them down to me.

Probably seems silly to some people to be upset over this but it's not currently replaceable and I guess it's symbolic of what I've given up to move here. I feel depressed. :(

I understand exactly what you mean ... it's not just the loss of the physical item. At least you still have family in the Vancouver area - I'm sure they could probably send you a few little things from your favourite place to cheer you up!

Awww it sure was pretty. I'm sorry. :( I cried when my grandma's candy dish got broken, too. It's the things that have created memories that make it hard when they break or get lost.

If the tea mug is cracked and just leaks but is still together, repurpose it as a holder for knitting tools such as needles, scissors, and the like. That way you can still enjoy your mug with a different purpose.

I had a coffee mug do that recently and it became my pen and pencil cup on my desk as school. Hugs for your loss! Hope you can replace it eventually!

also: you can make something with the pieces, like a mosaic hot plate! (but still, I do sympathize - it sure was one beautiful cup), even prettier than any of my favorites. So sorry for your loss.

It is funny how we find memories in things. I too have a mug memory.

When I was growing up, I had a muppets mug with Gonzo on it. Must have been my parents at some point, the image is dated on the mug from before I was born.

I had brought the mug to my BFFs house back then. Just cause I was there a lot for food. One day, she had taken all the mugs out of the cupboard and put them in a black plastic bag and smashed them all. (apparently it had something to do with an on going argument about my BFF vs the man she was dating using her mug...etc...and so on...extreme, but not totally without reason). From that day on...I thought my mug was gone. I was about 14 or 15 at the time. Now...I am 31...and my BFFs mother past away this summer...and I asked my BFF to bring me anything that might still be lingering around the house before it was sold. And the mug came back! Honestly...I was so taken aback, I honestly could have cried...

So...in conclusion...sorry to hear about your mug.
