Stitch question...PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
Hello everyone. I just joined this forum after seeing that this chat board seemed to be a lot more busy than the other knitting forum that I usually frequent, and I need answers relatively quickly, so hopefully you guys will be able to help me out (I'm confident you will )

So here's my situation - I want to expand my use of stitches beyond the simple stockinette/ribbing/garter stitch. I've found a couple of really great websites that have stitch directories, but I get confused when I read "Cast on any multiple of 10 + 2."

Does this mean that if I cast on 20 stitches, I should cast on an additional 4 stitches? Or should I cast on 20 stitches + 2 stitches?

Thanks!

You multiply the first number by however many times you want to repeat, then add the plus sts after than. So a multipe of 10 +2 would be 22, 32, 42, and so on.

Okay, got it. Thank you! Now I'm off to try that checkered box stitch!

Maybe pattern makers should start writing that out like it's algebra; when a=the desired number of times you want to repeat the stitch,

(10 x A) + 2

Thanks again!
