I've been knitting for at least 9 years, and I never could get the purl stitch. I used to try and try and try to get it. I hated that stitch. I finally got the hang of the stupid thing yesterday, and now I love it, even more than the knit stitch. It's funny how things like that work out lol.

I used to always dread doing them bc I knew the way that I had been attempting to do them wasn't right. But now that I know how to do them and I know that I'm doing it right, I love them! I guess I'm just weird lol.

Hi!

I wasn't overly fond of the purl stitch early on in my re-acquaintance with knitting but when I learned continental style the purl stitch became so much smoother (and faster!) that I actually enjoy switching over to it!

Here's the video that was so valuable in teaching me continental and her handling of the proper positioning of the yarn in doing purl answered all my questions and cleared up all my confusions on the subject. Enjoy!

I always hated it then I learned the norwegian way and I prefer it to the knit too! It is kinda funny!

I'm like that with grafting a sock. For the life of me, I just can't make my brain understand it. Like you, I've been knitting for a long, long time. I've watched videos, I've tried learning through books, I just can't do it. Makes me crazy I tell you. And I do enjoy knitting socks.
I think you're not alone. Many of us have things that just don't work for us. Glad you were able to get it finally. Maybe I just need to keep working on my issue. LOL

I hate purling. Especially if its stockinette knit flat. It makes my left index finger tired.

I don't mind purling so much, as long as it's continuous - like stockinette, you purl the whole row. Hate hate hate seed or moss stitch, can't stand switching back and forth between knit/purl. Ribbing is tolerible if it's 2x2. Hate 1x1.

Yes, I know I'm lazy.

It's not laziness if it makes you hurt. I avoid flat knit sweaters for that reason. Actually I sometimes avoid anything in flat knit stockinette.
