I'm not sure if there's anyone here who's in or around the Long Beach, CA area (L.A. County), but if you are, the Party Barn/Fabric Barn/Yarn Barn holds free knitting and crochet classes 6 days a week. I didn't ask what time the crochet classes are, but the knitting classes are every day at 11 a.m. I'm sure that you can call them and ask about either though.
