Going out for NYE: Overrated?
I remember going out when I was younger and having a blast. Now that I'm older and have a family, it's not as cool as it used to be. Maybe it's because of all of the work involved? Or the cost. Babysitters, high heels that hurt, staying up late when you just wanna go to bed... Or did I just go to a crappy party? LOL

Either way, next year, when husband and I just go to bed at 11PM, I won't be too jealous of all the partyers. I think I'll just think about all the money I'm saving, and how happy I am to have a great family to sleep through NYE with.

We don't go out. I've discovered that the new year comes whether I wake up exhausted and hung over or wake up well rested and sober. I prefer the latter. Last night my poor doggie was terrified of the firecrackers going off at midnight so I'm glad we were there to reassure her.

We have done both. Glad to report at this age in life the latter is much better. No hassles, no traffic, no hangover (as a rule) and not much money wasted. But, when you are young and full of vinegar you gotta do what you gotta do - so have fun and pay the piper the next day. We are young for such a short time - and old for well, hopefully, a long time. Hope all enjoyed whatever New Years Eve they spent and my each and every one of you have many more.

Yes, It is overrated!! We stayed and had a blast!! We talked to lots of friends and drank without worrying about getting home. It was cold cold cold here, so we were glad to be warm. We went to bed at 1amish and I got up to feed the horses at 7am! All is all a good New years and a great start to the year!

Hubby and I have only ever gone out once for New Year's Eve and, frankly, I did find it to be over-rated. We are non-drinkers, mostly for health reasons, but we enjoy a sparkling apple or pear juice on occasion... New Year's is just such an occasion.
This year, hubby was in bed by 9 and I followed at 11:45... too tired to stay up the extra 15 minutes... Besides, we had a wonderful Christmas...
New Year's Day is the day we take down the decorations and it just feels good to do so and start the new year off clean.
