uusing double knitting yarn
when a patt says use double knitting yarn does it mean that you usee two balls of yarn at once or one

patten instructions:
50g balls of debbie bliss cotton double knitting in ecur. pair each of 3 1/4 and 4mm knitting needles

No that's a weight type of yarn, not using the yarn doubled (unless you double sock weight/baby yarn) It's like thin worsted weight or a little heavier than sport weight.
