Okay, I am going to have another stab at it. I have done ML socks so this shouldn't be impossible for me. Thanks again!

Don't worry about HOW you knit in the round - dpns or magic loop, it doesn't matter. What I do is join my yarn so that I immediately pick up the underarm sts, then knit the sleeve sts off the holder. That gets all your sts on the circ. Then follow the rest of the directions for placing markers and working the short rows.
