How to knit flat pieces---
I am knitting a Scottish Terrier from "Knit Your Own Dog" and have ran into a problem. I posted this a.m. and apologise for not incl. enough info.
I have two flat pieces-RS and LS and I am to start on the Neck and Head. Instructions are:
Row 1: With RS facing k10 from spare needle of Right Side of Body then k10 from spare needle of Left Side of Body.(20sts)
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: k5, k2tog, k6, k2tog, k5.(18sts).
Row 4:Purl
Row 5: k5,k2tog,k4,k2tog,k5.(16sts).
Row 6: purl
Row 7: K 15, pult
Row 8: Working top of head, p2tog, p13, pult.
Row 1 is my problem--if I knit the way it reads won't the pcs. be on the same side and staggered or is this what is to happen? I am just not good at ripping out. Thanks for helping!! Maybe I should go back to diving!!!HA!

*I have two flat pieces-RS and LS
Are these two pieces still on needles? Or were they put on holders/scrape yarn? Or were they bound off? How many stitches does each have? What is there general shape?

They are on 2 holders(10 sts on each) and it looks as if it is forming the neck-from the base up.
The body parts are bound off on top and I have 6 stitches on each piece at the end for the tail.
It is the shape of a dog without the head-at least I 've got that. Ha!

Aha!

Pick up right side piece with rs facing you. Hold stitch holder in your left hand as if it is your left hand needle (assuming rs of piece faces you. If not that slide stitches off holder and onto empty needle). Knit the 10 sts off the holder onto your right hand needle.
Pick up left side piece with rs facing you. Hold stitch holder in your left hand as if it is your left hand needle (assuming...). Knit the 10 sts off the holder and onto your (and the same) right hand needle.

You should now have all 20 sts on one needle with rs facing you and connected by one stitch on the needle. The two pieces themsleves should be dangling from the needle not attached to each other (yet).
