Thank you so much. I only hope that the scarf I am working on will match it as well, I mean it should, I am using the same yarn.

On a side note, do you guys find that using a loom is considered cheating or kind of "poserish"?

I don't think it's "cheating", but I don't believe it should be called hand knit. It has it's value though and I bet it's pretty fast to make hats.

My personal preference is to do classic knitting that comes from my two hands. To each his own though.

Why would it be cheating? Unless you tried to pass it off as something other than what it is. I've not done loom knitting myself. Are you using it for the scarf?

Yeah, I haven't learned to not use a loom yet and I still have some things I need to buy before I start knitting. I don't have any needles yet. Just the stuff that came with my beginner set of looms from walmart.

I do plan on learning eventually though. That and crochet.

Yeah, why would it be cheating? There aren't any knitting police or even any rules that say knitting has to be done a certain way. The main question is, are you enjoying the hobby the way you're doing it?

If the answer to that question is yes, then how can you be doing it incorrectly or in a cheating manner?

Cheating? Poserish??? Not at all. Just a different technique to achieve a similar end.

As a machine knitter and a hand knitter, I do distinguish between the two as hand made and hand knit. Anyone who has ever worked lace manually on a machine can attest to the substantial and at times complicated handwork involved.

But that's more for my convenience than anything else, so I can keep track of how I made something.

Enjoy what you do, however you choose to do it. That's my motto and I'm sticking to it.

Good job. It's okay to use a loom if that is what you want to do. I've never used one and and not that good with gadgets so it would probably be harder for me than just using needles.

I made an assumption that you'd used needles. I'm not saying I've changed my mind, I still say that you didn't cheat. I'm curious now, will patterns intended for knitting with needles work with you knitting loom? I'm going to have to look into how these work. How's the scarf coming along?

The scarf is coming along. I made another hat last night instead of working on the scarf though. Also, there are quite a few different stitches and one of them is a way to get the same look from stitching with needles on a loom. However I am not 100% sure on what it was called now.

I was thinking about doing some work with a sweater machine that I saw at the local Jo-Anns, but I am still not sure. I think I need to slow down and learn a few stitches and how to read patterns, in the event that Il earn to knit with needles.
