how do I knit in the round with Garter st

I am trying to wrap my head around this. I am knitting the Tomten Jacket from EZ and I wanted to change the sleeves by knitting them in the round with Magic Loop, sounded easy until I started it. Reason why ? I didn't want a seam and I need to be able to knit a ribbed cuff. I know the pattern doesn't call for the ribbed cuff but I am knitting this for DH and he wants ribbed cuffs. I thought knitting it in the round would work for so I could just go into knitting the cuffs then

Is there some way to knit in garter with ML in the round?

To do garter st in the round you have to knit one round and purl one round. You don't turn to knit on the WS so you have to make the purl bumps on the RS by purling.

Bazinga ! looking further into the pattern I found an easy way to do this without knitting a purl round. It took awhile before I got it but here it is , *Knit row,slip next st (the first st of the row just knitted),y fwd,sl st back to left needle turn and repeat from * Keep a marker between first and last sts. And it works ! this is why I love knitting .

I use Liat Gat from Knit Freedom's cheater way to knit garter stitch in the round.

If there was a video here showing how to do this I didn't see one . If there isn't one I think they should add one showing this,because really not being a hard core knitter I had a hard time wrapping my head around this without seeing it first. I had to keep trying it and starting over until it clicked in my head.

I saved suzeeq's link also. I think I see how that way of doing it works also, but will have to take more time to figure out exactly what's going on there. Thanks.

Now I wish I could do stockinette flat w/o purling. *sigh*

Learn to knit backwards.... With RS facing, knit the sts going back to the other side. There's some videos at youtube.
