Shaping sholders and back of neck
I can't figure these directions out.....help......
This is a cardigan sweater "Hester" from the book Rowan Homestead Classics.
This book is written in England and not in America. I think this is where my problem is......the instructions are so different that I don't understand them. Could someone please translate them into American English for me? This is not my first cardigan sweater.

Instructions read:

Shape shoulders and back neck:
Cast off 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows. 57 sts

I have done the two rows of casting off...no problem. I know that the word "patt" means to continue in pattern.

Nest row (RS): Cast off 7 sts, patt until there are 10 sts on right needle and turn, leaving rem sts on a holder.
Work each side of neck separately.
Cast off 4 sts at beg of next row.
Cast off rem 6 sts.
With RS facing, rejoin yarn to rem sts, cast off centre 23 sts, patt to end.
Complete to match first side, reversing shapings.

Thanks in advance!

You're going to work the shoulders separately. So work in pattern for 10 sts, then turn to work the sts for one shoulder. BO 4 sts at the beg of the next row which will be the WS row, then turn and BO the last 6 sts on the RS.

With a new yarn end, BO the middler 23 sts and work to the end of the row which should leave you with 10 sts. Turn and work the WS row, then turn and BO 4 sts on the RS, then the last 6 sts on the WS. At least that's how I'd do it.
