stockinette stitch on dpn's help

Am I correct that to do St. Stitch on double pointed needles you just knit? The pattern I am following says to do St. stitch but it says to knit and purl, but doesn't even say to turn. I am very confused about this

Yes, for stockinette st you knit all stitches around. The pattern may have purls in it for ribbing or something, you do need to both knit and purl for that. For garter stitch in the round you would alternate a knit round with a purl round, and for reversed stockinette st you purl the rounds.
