New knitter, not sure what to do next
I have been knitting since christmas of 2012. This is my first time knitting something a little harder. I am making a baby blanket for my soon to come brother. After I had just finished increasing a row, I looked at my pattern and i don't understand what it says next.

"k6 *(k1. p1. k1) in next st. Sl1. k2tog. Psso. Rep from * to last 6 sts. K6" is what it says for the next row.

I kinda understand some of it, But not all.

I also go to an open knit on thursdays and ask questions, but i've only been to twice. And i usually forget to go.

Any ideas on what to do?

"k6 *(k1. p1. k1) in next st. Sl1. k2tog. Psso. Rep from * to last 6 sts. K6" is what it says for the next row.

(k1, p1, k1) into the next stitch is an increase. You begin to knit 1 but instead of slipping the st off the left hand needle, bring the yarn to the front between the needles and begin the p1. Then again instead of slipping the st off the left hand needle, bring the yarn to the back and knit 1. This time, slip the stitch off the left hand needle as usual. You'll have 3 sts in place of one.
Here's a video for slip 1 k1 psso (slip 1, knit 1, pass slip stitch over). You directions are similar but instead of k1 you knit 2 tog. So it's slip 1, knit 2together, pass slip stitch over.
The final direction is to repeat the instructions within the asterisks until you get to the last 6sts. Then knit the last 6sts.
What a welcome gift this is going to be for your brother and a very thoughtful one too!
