Washing Caron simply soft acrylic yarn

I had made a washcloth and washed it today. It left yarn fuzz all over the washer and the other items in the load. What did I do wrong? The reviews of this yarn say it washes well. The washcloth itself now looks like I've used it forever--very worn. Help please. Thank goodness it was only a washcloth!!

You didn't do anything wrong. Simply Soft is washable. It's a loosely spun yarn which makes it soft, but also makes it more prone to pilling and fuzzing.

I suggest using cotton for dishcloths anyway. Acrylic is not really absorbent and cotton is. It makes a better washcloth.
