Hi, everyone. I found this website really helpful since I'm teaching myself how to knit. I just started a week ago. I know both English and Continental ways of knitting, but I find myself to prefer Continental. I didn't realize how much I'd enjoy knitting, but I do.
I'm a writer who decided to knit after my mom told me she wanted to show someone how (or try to; she hasn't knit for 32 or 33 years) and pass it down the family. I was also inspired by my grandmother's work, wanting to do something she did since I barely knew her. So far, I know how to garter stitch both the English and Continental, same with purling, stockinette, moss stitch, and ribbing. I'm working on increases right now, then I'll work on decreases. I can't wait to work on cable stitching.
Some of it is a bit overwhelming, but the more I work with it, the faster I become and get excited how far I've gotten in a week. I'm doing leg warmers right now. I can't wait to gain more experience with knitting.
