Binding off question

Hi All - I find, if I do the "simple" bind off in stocking st, the bind-off row always totally rolls to the front in a very obvious ridge. The photo shown in the video on this site appears to do the same. It always improves with blocking, but I'm wondering if there's another way that'd make it sit on top better.

What I do is alternate k's and p's - as you would for 1x1 ribbing, and bo loosely and kind of lift the stitch to the centre (top). It turns out quite a bit better.

I'm just wondering what other people do?

Uh - yesterday I said I was looking forward to our heatwave - thought we'd be enjoying temps around 75 deg - indoor & outdoor temps are now 84 - comes under the heading "be careful what you wish for" - haha, and here I am, planning my dolls' Christmas outfits.

Yes, if you BO in kp rib the edge stays right on the edge. When you BO in purl, the edge will be on the other side. I often BO in purl on the RS to make a little garter ridge.

Hah, never trust the forecast. You'll have enough humidity in your location to make it uncomfortable. It's bad enough here with 12% humidity and 85 or 90.

lol I just looked at "the"weather network" site, and it says our humidity is 48%, the temp is 82, and feels like 91.

Right now, it went up to 17% humidity, it's 85 and feels like 82. But it's going to get hotter today, though it's 'supposed' to still feel cooler. I don't care, over 85 I start melting...

Oh yes, me too. We do have a so-called "portable" window a/c - every year we drag it out of the closet and go through a great process to get it stuffed in there (without dropping it out the window!) - for the past 2 years, we put it away again at the end of Sept without ever turning it on. NOW it's working its little heart out. Makin' the power company happy!

That's ok. I think of all the kids who are SO happy at the beach (which also keeps the neighbourhood quiet

) and the garden is happy - and I have my Christmas knitting, my a/c and my car's a/c if I do decide to venture out. It's all good

Must be nice (shaking my head as I type). We're regularly hitting 100 (up to 107). No telling what it actually FEELS like outside (and my husband chose now to make major repairs to one of our sheds--oh boy).

I'd just as soon it'd go somewhere else - we've been stuck around 90 since about mid June and I'm really tired of it... At least the nights are getting longer and it's cooling off then.
