beginner hooded cardigan(baby) Help!!!
Hello All,

I am confused on apart of thr pattern i just got to. which is shaping the nest.

The pattern state to: bind off 5 st for neck , and finish row( I assuming since i was stockinette st in the previous rows, I must finish this with a knit??) continue Stockette st, dec 1 st at neck edge every row 2, times 9 st. ( I am not sure what this is saying. should of dec by one every two rows???)

this is a lion brand Jiffy-simple hooded cardigan.

"Bind off 5 (5, 6, 6) stitches for neck, finish row. Continue in St st, dec 1 st at neck edge every row 2 (3, 3, 4) times – 9 (10, 11, 12) sts. When piece measures same length as Back, bind off."
The pattern wants you to bind off 5 sts for the neck and then finish the row by continueing the stockinette stitch pattern (since you do this on the WS row, you're purling). Then decrease one stitch at the neck edge on the next row and the row after that. You'll have 9 sts remaining on the needle.

TKS for your reply,

Ok am a bit confused. because i ended this ST st by purling(K 5, P11) So that would mean am doing a knit row. should i have ended in a in row 5 instead of row 6 because my pattern in back on the RS. or maybe am confusing this RS wrong side thing

You should end having completed a RS row, a row 5. That way the next row will be a WS row, a row 6. Remember too that this is for the left front of the sweater, that is the left side when the child is wearing it. So you would bind off 5 sts for the neck at the beginning of a WS row.

Ok, TKS.

I hope it works out.
