Mystery pattern?

Hello everybody. I am new to knitting just last year and I love it. I wanted to start a little earlier this year so that my friends can get their Christmas presents on time.

I came across this pattern online and although there's a picture, there isn't actually a pattern. I'm too much of a beginner to even fathom how this pattern was created.

If any of you experts could help me out with even the name of this pattern or how to go about it... it would be greatly appreciated.
