Antique Patterns

I spent an enjoyable couple of hours this morning looking through the collection at the Antique Pattern Library (http://www.antiquepatternlibrary.org/). I saw some fantastic old patterns, and I discovered that fch stitch is not new at all. Apparently it's been around for many many years--I saw directions for it in one of the books.

Anyhooo . . . if you happen to have hard copies of antique pattern books (Jan, was that you?), you can donate scanned copies to this site and they will post them for all the world to see and use.

At the very least, take a look at some of the patterns. They are fabulous--and confusing--and intricate! And did I mention fabulous?!

Nope wasn't me. I think someone did mention they had vintage patterns though.

I have a few myself that're from the 50's and up. I'll submit them once my computer gets fixed.

I thought the Red Cross patterns that women knit in World War 2 were fabulous. Be sure to check that book out on this site.

Yes, Amy...I have way too many vintage knitting books.

I really should send some of the patterns in, because they are just wonderful.

Maybe it was ArtLady who had the vintage crochet books??? I know one of the regulars here did.

Anywhooo, I'm working on a couple of things made from antique patterns. Will share once I'm done!

I'm not sure if my patterns will qualify, though. Most of mine are from the 40's and 50's. It looks like the ones on the site are from the 20's and before.
