Blocking acrylic yarn

I wonder if the person who had the tutorial would have noticed a difference between the square she blocked and washed and another she hadn't blocked and washed and dried. IMHO if having things blocked before stitching or considering them finished is important, then this has real merit; otherwise, I'm still very skeptical. I might get around to trying it but Jan is the more likely culprit for reporting back. I rarely use the dryer and save up for a load that will all need to go in the dryer. So, Jan, I second Sue's post.
