Pattern say first 10 rows to sc chain sc chain. Next ten to sc only all way cross. The next ten sc, chain, sc. How do I do this and come up with same amount of stitches across? HELP!

Perhaps you only sc in the scs from the previous row, not in the chain too.

At this point you have a pattern of stitches and spaces, correct?

Next ten to sc only all way cross.

You will now sc in each st and sp of the previous row. You can stitch into the open sp or in into the ch that made the sp.

The objective is to go from having open spaces to having solid crochet sts. Can you link to the pattern?

All you do is skip every other sc. So: sc, ch1, sk next sc, sc in next sc and so on, you're returning to the original st pattern is all.

I thought of that but she seemed to think that her stitch count shouldn't increase.

Knowing which pattern you're doing granny15 would help a lot; makes it easier to see what's supposed to be happening.

I think I see your point. Unless every other st were skipped originally, to allow for the chain, then increases happened then. I think we need more info.

This almost sounds like my favorite Woven Stitch, video tutorial for it posted here: http://www.hookedonneedles.com/2010/...tch-video.html except that with the woven stitch there is no solid sc row.

That's a cool stitch pattern, I've never used it before. Your videos are great! BTW
I thought the OP's pattern was pretty clear and straightforward but not now. Now I look back and wonder if it's sc ch sc in the next st with no sp in between and if so then where do the sts go on the next row. I do hope we get to see the pattern or at least a photo of what's being made so this mystery gets solved. I keep checking in for the next installment of the story.

I love that woven stitch! This is the only place I've seen a tutorial for it. Youtube doesn't have it, at least not under that name. I got a crocheted woven stitch hat from an acquaintance for Christmas. I've been obsessed with looking at it and trying to figure out how to do this in the round. I think I finally have it figured out. Played around with the pattern again last night. Nice to see sites like this. Kudos to you, if the site is yours.

Here's the way I read this:

Ch X number of stitches
Row 1: Sc, ch 1, skip 1 ch, sc in next ch across. Turn
Rows 2-10: (probably a ch 1 here for beginning), sc in first sc, ch 1, skip 1 ch space, *sc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 ch sp; repeat from *all the way across to last ch sp and sc, sc in last sc. Turn.

Row 11: ch 1 for beginning, sc in each sc and ch sp across. Turn.
Rows 12-20: ch 1 for turning ch, sc in first sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc, *sc in next sc, ch 1, skip 1 sc; repeat from *all the way across to last sc, sc in last sc. Turn.

Seems pretty simple to me since that keeps everything even.
