WARNING: UK KNITTER!!
I am an intermediate knitter and have made several hats, scarves and bags, so now I want to try a sweater.
However, the yarn the pattern calls for yarn that has been discontinued (Classic Elite Duchess) and I am confused about how to choose yarns according to the gauge in the pattern. I can't find any wools with the same gauge on the label. They either have a different number of stitches or row, or a completely different needle size!!
It reads like this in the pattern:
Gauge: 14sts and 25 rows to 4" over Broken Rib stitch on 6.5mm needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If anyone could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. And also if anyone can suggest a UK yarn to use for this pattern that would be great!!!
Thanks in advance!
P.S This pattern is from the 'Chicks with Sticks: Guide to Knitting'.
