I bought the book knit your own dog (and love it!) Im having a confusing moment and need help. Im doing the poodle. Row 7 says to in. k8, in. (12 sts) and then it says work 5 rows st. st. Do I do a knit st. st. or do I purl first? Uggg I should know this but having a brain moment.

If the last row was knit then you'd probably purl so it would keep in the stockinette pattern. Otherwise you'll have a ridge.
