Good news, bad news, apologies, and prayer requests.

I really don't know where to start with this, so I'll do the best I can.

Many of you know I was just on vacation with my husband's family. I was supposed to mail onward the Patriotic Pets snuggle on the 6th when my vacation ended, but haven't yet. To all of my friends on the Pet Snuggle Oddball, I apologize that I've not done so yet. Soon, you'll understand why...

The day before my vacation ended, I ended up with two bad things happening... my Aunt found out she has advanced, aggressive, invasive breast and lymphatic cancer, and I got a case of food poisoning. But out of the case of food poisoning comes my good news: I'm pregnant!

So, needless to say I've had an "interesting" week. I'd like to ask all of you to keep my aunt Michele in your prayers, and myself as well since there are some issues with this pregnancy that's put me on bed rest already. (Nothing major, just a precaution at this point, hopefully by my 16th week that'll be over.) I'm finally getting over the food poisoning, just in time for morning sickness to take over.

Please, forgive me for not saying something sooner, but I'm only now able to sit up. Once again, please keep my Aunt Michele and myself in your prayers at this time of need.

I'm so sorry to hear about your aunt! My thoughts and best wishes are with your family that she can receive the best care and recover!

Sorry about the food poisoning, but congratulations! Do what the doctor tells you and I'll keep good thoughts for a happy, healthy baby!

So sorry to hear about your aunt. But take heart. The advances they've made in cancer treatment are amazing. Congrats on the pregnancy! One hint. Fresca soda pop (or whatever you call it in your part of the country) is excellent for morning sickness. Have your hubby pick some up for you at the supermarket.

Thank you both for your well wishes. As far as my aunt goes, we're trying to talk her into going to Cancer Treatment Centers of America, but so far she's being pigheaded and refusing to consider it. *shrugs* I may not agree with her, but it's ultimately her choice.

Okay, so my apologies for disappearing into the abyss for more than a year... The problems with my pregnancy didn't clear up and in fact got worse. I ended up spending almost half my pregnancy in the hospital and in and out of ICU. (The problem wasn't actually pregnancy based, just aggravated to life-threatening levels by the pregnancy.) I delivered a healthy baby boy by emergency c-section after 60 hours of labor, and he's now 7 months old. My health hasn't really recovered though now I'm with a new specialist that has at least allowed me to return home to my family. His hope is that with a combination of therapies, I'll regain my health. (Here's hoping!!) I'm still bedridden, but at least now I have internet! I'm trying to come back and get back into the swing of a 'normal'-ish life. Hopefully, those of you who knew me before I went poof, can forgive me?

No need to apologize. It's not a requirement to post regularly here.

So sorry to hear about your continuing health problems. I sure hope this specialist will do some things differently (as in, correct some of the problems you're having).

And congrats on your healthy baby boy.

I will say, the plethora of needles in my future may be better than scalpels or other options, but they don't exactly fill me with ecstasy at the thought.

As soon as my insurance signs off on the doctor's proposed treatment plan (or I come up with the cash out of pocket) he wants to put me on:
1)Vitamin A IV treatments 1/mo
2) Chelation therapy 1/mo
3) Hormone injections (daily)
and a couple others I didn't catch the details for.

The reason I feel bad is because I had just committed to doing some work with the oddball pet blankets when it happened. I feel like I abandoned a good cause as much as I abandoned my family. (How's that for a poster perfect example of Catholic guilt?)

I'm already on inversion therapy and he's trying some light physical therapy.

Plesee don't feel bad about the Pet Oddball Snuggle! I'm sorry I didn't see this thread earlier to tell you to not be worry over it. (I've taken over the coordination from Shandeh.)

We'd love to work on one with you, but it is much more important for you to concentrate on your health. I'm exhausted just reading through what you are going through.

Wonderful news about the baby boy. Congrats and all kinds of good wishes.
You're dealing with all sorts of important medical and family issues. They come first, of course. We're all happy that you're doing as well as you are and hope for even better to come. I wish you good health and all possible enjoyment with your family. Great to hear back from you in the forum.
