Offgridgirl, I think that Body Shop scrub you mentioned sounds helpful too, because I really do need something to slough off all the callouses and dead skin that my yarn keeps catching on. It's a real pain in the butt. Thank you, girl!

Your welcome....I hope you find some relief!! Also, you may find that modifying your diet will help....try taking out dairy,egg and wheat. Add in lots of fresh fruit and veggies!!

I agree, many foods are likely to cause many people many problems. I have eliminated most dairy products but do backslide now and then and my stiff, achy knees and hands tell me about it. Food sensitivities, not true allergies, caused severe behavioral problems with my son. He couldn't have dairy products, tomatoes, eggs, peanuts, or chicken. He eats them now and pays the price.

Hi - I'm new here - just created my account to ask some beginner questions on knitting, but saw this thread and wanted to post. We had been battling this in my family for years, until last year, when we started taking Udo's oil (Google it, but it is udoerasmus.com). During the winter we take a little under the recommended Tbs. for every 50lbs of body weight - within a couple of weeks the harsh dry skin was healed up, and I believe it is good for your internals as well. I still use a little lotion on the extremities, but the cracking/bleeding is gone. Heals you from the inside out... Hope this helps!

GG, I've read in a few health magazines I get that turmeric has powerful healing, anti-inflammatory powers, including healing our skin..how happy I am for you that it worked! I'm going to buy some immediately! Highstrung, I'm checking that Udo's Oil out, too. I'm so happy that your family has found such relief with it. It sounds like a combo of an inside-out approach along with external soothing lotions and such. Well, it's getting late and I'm going to read a bit then drift off. Thanks much all.

I like old fashioned Jergen's lotion. We used to use this in the 1960's, and I'm sure it's been around longer than that. Of course back in the day, we wore white gloves to social events and church. The remedy was to slather your hands in lotion and put an old pair of gloves on overnight while you slept. Your hands ended up unbelievably soft.

I bought Jergens recently at a Sam's Club. It was three huge bottles for like $12. It has the same cherry almond scent I loved as a kid. But they improved it, I think for the better. It's no longer so greasy you could go sledding on it. It quickly soaks into the skin and makes skin instantly soft. It even worked on patches of dry flaky skin that I've had for years. My elbows are no longer like alligator skin. Give it a try and see what you think.
