When you have a skein of yarn do you roll it into a ball before you start to use it? Or just pull from the middle and leave it in the skein (long) shape?
If it's an already wound skein, I just pull from the center. I don't take the time rolling it into a ball. That's my preference anyway.

If it's in a center pull ball or skein I generally pull from the middle until it collapses in too much and gets to be a tangled mess, then I wind it up from the other end. There really is only one right way to do and that's the way that works best for you.

I like that...I've ALWAYS, ALWAYS rolled mine but pull it from the center to start the roll. But that's just cause my momma taught me that way! haha...I just didn't know if everyone rolled it or not...

I wind mine into a center pull and pull from the center unless its a yarn that is too fuzzy or something like mohair. If the yarn is in a hank it's best to wind it or you'll get a mess.

There is one thing you should keep in mind if you roll your yarn into balls. Be careful to not roll them too tight. If they are rolled tightly, the yarn gets stretched out of shape, and will cause problems with gauge and fit.
