Hobo Bag

Hey everyone, I'm over half way finished with my cloak and I was wondering if anyone knew of a good hobo bag pattern that's free. I want to make a hobo bag so I can take my knitting with me and the needles, my metal ones, won't go through the bag

I don't have links, but I know there's a couple patterns on the Lion yarn site, and one at knitty.com. To keep the needles from poking through, you may need to line it.

If you knit a bag you WILL have to line it with a sturdy fabric.

Yep, you'd either have to line it or make it on tiny needles so things won't poke through. That's not fun, the stitches are really tight and most patterns aren't written that way. Unless you want to do one in wool and felt it - then you'd knit it on larger needles to make the sts loose and open. The felting will close up the holes.

I'm not sure even tiny needles will work all the time. Pointy needles have a way of working themselves into knitting.

Yeah, they can. That's when I thought about felting - that should make it poke proof.
