Ribbed Hat Mistake...
I attempted to knit a ribbed scarf pattern for my boyfriend for Christmas but made a mistake in doing so... instead of doing a traditional ribbing pattern, I did k2p2 on the right side AND the wrong side of the work (knitting the purl stitches and purling the knit stitches), causing it to be a different pattern.
This mistake was fine for the scarf and easy enough to get around, but now I am trying to knit him the matching hat pattern to go with it and am having some difficulties with the decreases to shape the crown. I was trying to keep with my original mistake so they would still be matching, but because I messed up the original pattern, using the decrease pattern in the instructions leave it with a weird, bumpy crown because the stitches are narrower than the original pattern.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a decrease pattern I could use for the hat? I am knitting in the round, still knitting the purl stitches and purling the knit stitches.
Thanks!
