It doesn't matter whether you knit english or continental. That doesn't affect the stitch. For the record though continental you carry the yarn in the left hand and english with the right hand.

First...are you knitting flat or in the round? It doesn't really matter for ribbing, but it helps us help you. There are a lot of patterns on that site so if you could link it would help.

You took a picture from what appears to be the back because it looks like purls. Is it possible you're not purling or knitting correctly? Make sure of that first. Check the videos at the tab at the top of the page or in the link in my signature.

This is 4x4 ribbing in the sample, but it gives you and idea.

When asking questions ALWAYS post the name and a link for the pattern if you have it.
