I will preface this by saying I do a dishcloth that increases as k2, YO, knit across. To decrease I k1, k2tog, YO, k2tog, knit across. This maintains the pattern while decreasing.
This is kind of how you would handle the decreases in the shawl to create a blanket. Since you have 2 increases and 1 decrease in the pattern I think you'll need to add 2 more decreases to total 3 decreases. 2 of them cancel out the increases and adding the third creates the decrease that will shape the blanket.
You might need to experiment a bit, but based on my dishcloth experience I think it could go like this- k1, k2tog, k1, YO, k1, k2tog, k1, YO, k2tog, knit to end.
I'm sure others will chime in here if I'm wrong or off here.
