Pattern help!

I need some help with a cable pattern!

Im on the eft front. I have had 8 rows of instructions each row is in 3 parts with a cable section in the middle. As I have gone along the cable section has gone row 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. The pattern now says

"Keeping the 24 rows of the cable panel correct work straight until the front measures 19cms."

Does this mean I start again at row 1 but now add the 9th rw of cable panel. Then row 2 adding 10th row of cable and so on.

Hope someone can understand and help as im really stuck!

Can you link to the pattern or give us it's name and where it's from?

The cable pattern is a 24 row repeat and the other stitch panels are an 8 row repeat, is that correct? If so, yes, you've got exactly the right idea. Work row 1 of the other stitch panels and row 9 of the cable panel, row 2 of the other panels and row 10 of the cable panel and so on. When you come to the end of the second 8 row repeat, start it again but continue on with the cable panel.
I keep 2 row counters going to make sure I match up the patterns or else keep track with pencil and paper.
